Chong Wei dope case to be heard in front of three-member panel

KUALA LUMPUR: The three-member panel to hear former world No. 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei’s doping case comprises two Europeans and one Indian.

Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) deputy president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria, who confirmed the composition of the three-member panel, said that he could not reveal the names of the panel members.

“They are legal and medical experts. Two are from Europe and one from India. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to reveal their names,” said Norza, who is also the BAM anti-doping working committee chairman appointed to give Chong Wei the best assistance.

“So far, we’ve got positive feedback from lawyer Mike Morgan on Chong Wei and we’re pleased with all that has taken place. Whatever needs to be done has been done and, for now, we’re just hoping for a favourable outcome.”

Chong Wei was accompanied to London by BAM general manager Kenny Goh on Tuesday to discuss some matters regarding the case with UK-based Morgan. The hearing will be on Saturday.
