KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 (Bernama) -- Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, Monday congratulated the Young Tigers squad (national Under-22) for clinching the Bangabandhu Gold Cup title in Bangladesh on Sunday.
"Well done, Malaysia, in winning the Bangabandhu Gold Cup, proud of u in bringing home the trophy. Truly well deserved (victory)," he tweeted.
Razip Ismail's boys secured a dramatic 3-2 win over the Bangladesh national team in injury time at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, and it was the second win in the tournament after they made it in the first edition in 1996.
Apart from Malaysia and Bangladesh, four other countries, namely Thailand, Bahrain, Sri Lanka and Singapore also took part in the tournament.
The tournament was part of Razip's preparation for the 2015 Singapore League (S-League) early next month and also the Asian Football Confederation (2016 AFC Cup Under-23) Qualifier here from March 27-31.
