Azizulhasni and Co will be back in action in Mexico

PETALING JAYA: The national track cyclists are back on the road again after a short respite following the Asian Games in Incheon last month.

Josiah Ng, Azizulhasni Awang, Fatehah Mustapa and Ju Pha Som Net will be heading to Guadalajara, Mexico for the first leg of the Track Cycling World Cup this weekend.

The quartet are out to pick up valuable points to qualify for the World Championships in France in February next year. They left from their training base in Melbourne on Monday.

Mohd Firdaus Mohd Zonis and Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom were scheduled to join them in Mexico but 18-year-old Firdaus was involved in a motorcycle accident which dashed their hopes. They were slotted to race in the men’s team sprint alongside Josiah.

However, Mohd Shah and Firdaus will get to compete in the ACC Track Asia Cup in India (Nov 21-23) and the second leg of the World Cup in London (Dec 5-7).
