Pandelela Feels Motivated By Improvement Shown By Junior Divers

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- National diving queen Pandelela Rinong feels the improvement shown by junior divers like Nur Dhabitah Sabri can add on to her motivation level and performance.

Pandelela who won a silver medal in the women's 10m platform at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games said as an experienced diver, she was proud of the ability shown by Nur Dhabitah.

Nur Dhabitah, competing in the games for the first time, partnered Pandelela in the 10m platform synchronized diving and won a bronze medal.

"I am grateful to my coach because he had done a very good job in Glasgow and the junior (Nur Dhabitah) improved well. As for Cheong Jun Hoong, she is back in shape and I am looking forward to competing with her.

"For synchro, I feel Leong Mun Yee and me have a good chance together. I feel motivated to do better because there are a lot of challenges I need to face," she told reporters launching the Samsung Asian Games Campaign, here today.

Speaking of the knee injury that she had suffered before the Commonwealth Games, Pandelela said she would have to see a doctor to determine how severe the injury was.

"I am worried that if I continue training on the Springboard, it might aggravate the injury. So, in the next two weeks we will be able to know whether the injury will affect my performance or not.

"If it gets better I will compete in the Springboard events. Right now I have not recovered fully from the injury. If everything goes well, I will leave for a training stint in China soon," she said.
