IPOH, June 23 (Bernama) -- Perak's hopes of remaining in the Super League competition hangs on tender hooks as they face a buoyant Malaysia Cup champion, Pahang at the Perak Stadium on Wednesday.
Perak who are currently 11th in the 12-team Super League need an outright win to remain in the Super League and hope any one of the three teams above its position falter in their next match.
Armed Forces who are in 10th position also have 23 points but with a better goal difference while T-Team with 24 points is in 9th position and Lions XII (25) are in 8th spot.
Perak team manager Datuk Azhar Ahmad said Perak were not comfortable with the current position or situation.
"We are not in a comfortable zone but we are playing the match at home, so that is a plus point. Furthermore, the recent win against Lions XII in Singapore should provide extra motivation for the team when playing against Pahang," he said.
"If we win, I am positive we will remain in the Super League," he told reporters here today.
Perak head coach Abu Bakar Fadzim would certainly be seeking the expertise of former National coach Karl-Heinz Weigang who is now the Technical advisor to the Perak team, when planning his strategy to overcome Pahang.
"The team had faltered in the first round of the Super League, winning only two matches but after some drastic changes in the team management and players, we managed to win five games in the second round.
"The new import players, namely Hassan Daher, Abdulafees Abdulsalam, Marco Tulio and Milan Purovic are also showing good performances," he said.
