M'sia Drop Three Spots In FIFA World Ranking

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's failure to beat the Philippines at home and away, saw the country's ranking drop three spots, from 142 last month to 145, in the latest FIFA (Federation International Football Associations) world ranking list.

The squad under interim national coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee was in 154th spot in January, 150 in February and 141 in March.

The current position puts Malaysia on par with teams like Belize (144), Kyrgyzstan (146), India & Singapore (147) and Puerto Rico (149).

In the South East Asia list Malaysia dropped to fourth (3rd previous) behind Vietnam (116), the Philippines (140) and Thailand (146) and also slipped from 22nd to 23rd spot in Asia.

At the top of the table that features 209 countries, World Champion and European Champion Spain remained at the top while Germany and Portugal retained second and third spots respectively.

Spain has 1,460 points followed by Germany with 1,390 while Portugal has managed 1,245 points.
