Annuar Denies Claims He Had Teamed Up With Tunku Ismail In Race For FAM President's Post

KOTA BAHARU, May 14 (Bernama) -- Former Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Tan Sri Annuar Musa Wednesday denied claims that he had teamed up with the Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in the run up to the FAM's election for office bearers on May 25.

Annuar said his meeting with Tunku Ismail who is also a candidate for the post of President, was to hear his (Tunku Ismail) views and plans for the election.

Recent reports claim that Tunku Ismail who is also the Johor Football Association (JFA) President would be challenging current FAM President Sultan Ahmad Shah and FAM Deputy President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah in a three-cornered fight during the FAM Congress in Shah Alam on May 25.

Annuar said claims that he had teamed up with Tunku Ismail, was not true.

"We accepted an open invitation from Tunku Ismail because many wanted to hear his views and plans. It will be pointless to team up with me because I cannot contest and I do not have votes," he said.

Annuar who is also the adviser of the Kelantan Football Association (KAFA), also welcomed Tunku Ismail's open-mindedness in the administration of football.

"I like Tunku Ismail's approach....simple, open and direct, has a clear vision for football, has a high level of commitment and that is something new. I hope the FAM accept the views, problems and feedback from affiliates and delegates," he said.
