MHC Finances A Bit Tight But Not In Trouble, Says Tengku Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- The financial cash flow of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) is tight but is not in trouble, said its president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

"The (MHC's) financial cash flow is a bit tight (but) we're getting good support from our sponsors although the procedures take some time," he told reporters after a mock cheque presentation for the Pahang Hockey Champions Challenge 1 2014, here today.

The biennial competition will be held from April 26 to May 4 at the Wisma Belia Stadium in Kuantan, Pahang.

The Pahang Tengku Makhota said he was slightly disturbed by claims that MHC was having financial woes.

"I'm a bit disturbed by remarks that we're in financial trouble. I can't agree when people say we're in financial difficulty," he added.

Tengku Abdullah expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors who had partnered with MHC in ensuring the success of this year's competition.

Malaysia are drawn with South Korea, Canada and France in Pool B while New Zealand, Japan, Ireland and Poland make up Pool A.

For the record, Malaysia's best ever performance in the Champions Challenge 1 was a fourth place finish in 2001 and 2012.
