Pandelela, Mun Yee Bag Silver At World Diving Series In Dubai


KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's diving aces, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee clinched the silver medal in the second leg of the 2014 FINA Diving World Series held at the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Sport Complex in Dubai today.

The duo accumulated 314.64 points in the women's 10m synchronised platform to emulate their silver medal feat in the opening leg in Beijing last week.

China's pair of Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia continued their supremacy in the category after defending the gold medal they won in the first leg. They scored 337.56 points while Benfeito Meaghan and Filion Roseline of Canada had to settle for bronze with 309.09 points.

The 2013 Myanmar Sea Games gold medallists, Ng Yan Yee and Cheong Jun Hoong however displayed disappointing dives and only managed to score 274.80 points in the women's 3m synchronised springboard to finish in fourth position.

Shi Tingmao and Wu Minxia of China won the gold medal after accumulating 335.40 points while Mexican pair Arantxa Chavez and Laura Sanchez took silver with scoring 286.50 points.

Tania Cagnotto and Francesca Dallape of Italy had to settle for bronze medal after scoring 279.30 points.

Malaysia's duo, Ahmad Amsyar Azman and Ooi Tze Liang will be competing in the men's 3m synchronised springboard final later today.
