Malaysia Climb Four Rungs In FIFA Ranking

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) - Malaysia climb four rungs from 154 in January to 150 in the latest ranking released by FIFA today.

This put Malaysia tied with Singapore and Liechtenstein and higher than countries such as Guyana and India (both 154) and Puerto Rico (157).

Among South-east Asian countries, Malaysia rose one rung to sixth behind the Philippines (127), Myanmar (130), Vietnam (143), Thailand (147) and Singapore (150).

In Asia, Malaysia climbed one rung to be ranked 29th out of 46 countries.

Malaysia are expected to play a friendly against the Philippines on March 1 at Selayang Municipal Council Stadium before facing Yemen in the final group D match, 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers in United Arab Emirates (UAE) four days later.

Meanwhile, 2013 Confederations Cup runner-up, Spain remained as the world's best team by collecting 1,506 points.

Germany (1,314 points) and Argentina (1,255 points) were second and third respectively. The FIFA ranking involves 209 countries.
