Locals To Vie For Four Spots In Maybank M'sian Golf Open

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- Four more places in the Maybank Malaysian Golf Open 2014 are up for grabs during the two-day National Qualifiers from Feb 18 at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club (KLGCC), here.

Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) president, Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor said the National Qualifiers would serve as the fairest way to choose local competitors for the four remaining spots in the prestigious golf tournament to be held from April 17 to 20 at the same venue.

"In essence, this is a shootout and only the top four will survive. The quartet with the lowest scores will make the cut.

"The qualifiers will instil competitive spirit in the golfers and I'm sure they will benefit from it," Mohd Anwar said in the statement issued on behalf of the organiser.

Eighteen local golfers have already earned their places in the US$2.75 million (RM9.137 million) tournament, which is co-sanctioned by The European and Asian Tours.
