Kelantan's AFC Cup Campaign Off To A Poor Start After Losing 3-5 To Yangon United

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 (Bernama) -- Kelantan lost their opening Group G match in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC Cup) competition after going down 3-5 to Yangon United from Myanmar at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Wednesday.

The absence of two imports, Mohamed Ghaddar and Mohamed Shawky due to injuries, certainly affected Kelantan's overall performance in the match against the home side.

Yangon United striker Kyaw Ko Ko was the toast of his time after scoring a hat-trick in the 28th, 52nd and 89th minutes while their Brazilian import Emerson Reis Luiz scored a brace in the 8th and 45th minutes said the AFC website, www.the-afc.com.

Kelantan's three goals were scored by Wan Zaharulnizam Wan Zakaria (47th min) and skipper Mohd Badhri Mohd Radzi (63rd, 94th min).

To add insult to coach Steve Darby's side, striker Ahmad Shakir Mohd Ali was shown the red card by referee Lee Min Hu from South Korea for a foul.

In another Group G match, South China from Hong Kong failed to take full advantage of playing on home turf after losing 1-3 to XM Vissai Ninh Binh from Vietnam at the Hong Kong Stadium.

In the second fixture of the group on March 12, Kelantan will host South China at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Baharu while XM Vissai Ninh Binh will host Yangon United at the Ninh Binh Stadium.
