Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the five-year plan would be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in January.
"The plan will focus on aspects of football development in the country and aimed at grooming players from the age of seven to 17," said Khairy when winding up debate on the 2014 Supply Bill in Dewan Rakyat, here, Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Khairy said despite receiving criticism over his remarks and statements with regard to football in the country, especially to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), he would not stop issuing such statements.
Khairy said he would continue voicing out his concern for the sake of football and urged everyone in the FAM to receive such criticism with an open heart since it was not directed to any individual but rather the governing body for football in the country.
"Though we cannot interfere in their administration, as the Minister of Youth and Sports, the development of football in the country is also my responsibility because it involves the entire nation," said Khairy who received support from both BN and opposition MPs, to continue voicing out his concern and views.
