Malaysia Win One Gold At Merdeka Asic Pacific Lawn Bowling Championship

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's hopes for a clean sweep of four gold medals in the finals of the Sime Darby Merdeka Asia Pacific Lawn Bowling Championship fizzled when three of its teams lost to their opponents.

Malaysian Lawn Bowls Federation (PLBM), in a statement here Sunday, said Malaysia's sole gold medal was contributed by Malaysia A which defeated Malaysia B, via the fours events at the championship at the Bayuemas Indoor Bowl, Klang, near here today.

Malaysia A, represented by Hizlee Rais, Siti Zalina Ahmad, Noor Hashimah Ismail and Izzat Shameer, beat Malaysia C lined by Fairus Abd Jabal, Emma Firyana, Zulhilmie Redzuan and Azlina Arshad, 5-4.

Malaysia A team captain Noor Hashimah said she was happy and relieved at winning the mixed team gold although a bit disappointed at losing in the final match of the mixed doubles.

Overall, Malaysia which was represented by four categories only managed to collect one gold medal, three silver and three bronze medals.
