Gavin, Kelly To Spearhead SEA Games Gold Medal Charge In Myanmar

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's top amateur golfers Gavin Kyle Green and Kelly Tan are expected to spearhead Malaysia's gold medal charge when the Myanmar SEA Games tee off in December.

Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) President Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor hoped since both players have been in splendid form recently, they would continue the momentum in the SEA Games.

"We have been monitoring their performance before selecting them for the Myanmar SEA Games. Gavin had won the Putra Cup Golf Championship in Manila recently.

"Throughout this year, Gavin has been in fine form, playing more like a professional and even matching their scores," Mohd Anwar told reporters at opening of the Malaysia International Golf Fair (MIGF) Symposium 2013, here, today by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

Mohd Anwar said they (Gavin and Kelly) would face stiff competition from the Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.

Apart from Gavin and Kelly, also on the SEA Games list are Abel Tam, Wafiuddin Abdul Manaf, Nur Durriyah Damian, Vivian Ching and Michele Koh.
