Corporate Bodies Should Support Youths With Potentials In Sports - Saravanan

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry is inviting corporate bodies to join the government in giving support to youths with potentials to churn out talented athletes for the development of sports in the country.

Its deputy minister, Datuk M. Saravanan said the ministry was ready to cooperate with the corporate bodies in giving their support in the form of education and financial assistance to develop their talents.

"Becoming champion in the charity run without any follow-up action by certain parties will not benefit the country in churning out athletes while the talents of the athletes concerned would be wasted," he said at a media conference after opening the McDonald's Olympic Day Run 2013 at the Merdeka Square, here today.

In conjunction with the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16, about 15,000 Malaysians are participating in the 10th edition of the annual run organised together with the Malaysian Olympics Council (MOM) and the Federal Territory Amateur Athletics Association (FTAAA).
