Athletes Need To Be Cautious In Last Minute Training, Says Zolkples

PALEMBANG, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- National Sports Council director-general Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong has advised national athletes to be cautious when undergoing last minute training to reduce the risk of injuries.

He was commenting on the injury sustained by national karate exponent Ricky Leong Tze Wai during last minute training ahead of the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang tomorrow.

Ricky received nine stitches on his left hand after being injured during training in the morning.

Zolkples said he was shocked and disappointed at the news and hoped Ricky would recover soon before the start of the Myanmar SEA Games in December.

"Maybe Ricky was too excited to show his best performance in the morning training before the competition tomorrow," he told Bernama.
