Late Boon Huat's Family Overwhelmed By Malaysia's 10-2 Victory Over Taiwan

IPOH, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The family of the late Chua Boon Huat were overwhelmed by Malaysia's 10-2 win over Taiwan in their Asia Cup Group A match at the Sultan Azlan Shah hockey stadium, yesterday.

Boon Huat's sister Melissa Chua, 37 who was in the stadium with her mother Tan Kuai Neo to watch the match said the victory and the one-minute silence observed in memory of her brother, was very meaningful to their family.

"My late brother was always hopeful of winning the Asia Cup and qualify for the World Cup in The Hague, Holland.

"Chua and his team mates had worked hard to achieve the goal. He would have rejoiced with the victory if he was alive," she said.

Before the start of the match, the whole stadium and the players observed a minute of silence as a mark of respect for the late Boon Huat who died in an accident.

Meanwhile, skipper Mohd Shahrul Nabil Abdullah in attributing the victory to the late Boon Huat, said every player had worked hard to ensure the victory.

"Though Boon Huat has left us, his dedication, fighting spirit and spirit will remain with the team," he said.

Boon Huat was killed on Aug 1, when his car collided with a lorry along the Lebuhraya Damansara-Puchong.
