Defending Champion Terengganu Row Their Way To The Top

KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 (Bernama) -- Defending champion Terengganu showed their true colours on the sixth day of the 16th SUKMA held here, by moving to the top of the medal tally, after disposing overnight leader Federal Territories (FT).

Terengganu has 10 gold, 9 silver, 6 bronze against FT's 10 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze while Johor dropped to third place with 9 gold, 3 silver and 13 bronze medals.

Terengganu collected three gold medals today through Muhammad Faizzuan Mohd Pazi in rowing (Men's Individual Scull), brothers Muhammad Faris/Muhammad Faiz Abdullah (Men's Double scull) and Syed Muhammad Iskandar Putra Syed Abdul Fattah/Abdul Hadi Omar (Men's Doubles).

Pahang were top in woodball today, collecting one gold, one silver and a bronze at the OUG Woodball Garden in Jalan Klang Lama.

The Melaka women's Waterpolo team moved into the final and meet FT after beating Selangor 20-4 in their semifinal match at the National Aquatic Centre in Bukit Jalil while FT beat Penang 9-2 in the other semifinal.

In netball, defending champion FT made it to the final after easily disposing Selangor 57-29 while Kedah swept aside Terengganu 42-37 to book their berth.

Selangor continued to dominate gymnastics (artistic) events by winning two gold medals through the men's and women's Individual all-round through Daniel Iskandar Richard and Farah Ann Abdul Hadi.

Selangor were also victorious at the National Aquatic Centre as Katrina Ann Abdul Hadi continued to mesmerize the crowd and the judges with the inspirational song 'River Flows in You' by Lindsey Stirling, to win the technical routine solo event gold.

Tomorrow, 24 gold medals are on offer in softball, woodball, rowing, gymnastics, netball, synchronized swimming and waterpolo.
