Chong Wei Grabs Fifth Indonesian Open Title

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 (Bernama) - Datuk Lee Chong Wei won his fifth Indonesian Open title after beating Marc Zwiebler in the final at Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta Saturday.

The top seed and silver medalist at 2012 London Olympic Games took just 40 minutes to send the 22nd seed German packing, 21-15, 21-14. The win proves that Chong Wei, the winner in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 is still the player to beat.

In the 2011 Indonesian Open, Chong Wei beat Denmark's Peter Hoeg Gade, 21-11, 21-7.

He first won the Indonesian Open title in 2007 beating China's Bao Chunlai, 21-15, 21-16.

In the women's singles final, Li Xuerui of China had to slog for one hour before beating Juliane Schenk of Germany, 21-16, 18-21, 21-17.

Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan won the men's doubles when they beati South Korea's Ko Sung Hyun/Lee Yong Dae, 21-14, 21-18.

Unfancied Bao Yixin/Cheng Shu of China shocked compatriots and topseed Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang, 15-21, 21-18, 21-18 to grab the women's doubles title.

Third seed Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei of China won the mixed doubles title beating fourth seed Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christina Pedersen of Denmark, 24-22, 20-22, 21-12 after one hour and 21 minutes.
