THE CEO & Celebrity Tennis event, which will be held in conjunction with ECM Libra Foundation-LTAM Inter-Team Junior Tennis Championships (Dec 15-20), received another boost as Dunlop extended its sponsorship yesterday.
The event, which will be staged at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Jalan Duta on Dec 13, is in its second year and has attracted DLP Sporting Goods Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Dunlop tennis balls and apparels, to continue its sponsorship.
"We were the official tennis ball (Dunlop) providers for the CEO & Celebrity Tennis last year, and after seeing the success of the event, we have decided to also sponsor Dunlop apparels this time," said DLP Sporting Goods director Alan Tang during the sponsorship ceremony at Balai Berita yesterday.
"The event is held for a noble cause and we would like to continue providing our support for as long as we can."
The main objective of CEO & Celebrity Tennis is to raise funds for the NSTP Charity Fund to help young Malaysians who have severe medical problems.
The organisers are also hopeful the event will revive tennis interest among the younger generation who witness the successful personalities in the sport, and provide a platform for corporate leaders to get together in a sporting environment.
Last year's inaugural event saw 44 players (37 CEOs, two ambassadors and five celebrities) compete in the mix-and-match doubles format which helped raise more than RM75,000 for the NSTP Charity Fund.
Bursa Malaysia is the joint organiser of the event while LTAM provides the venue and technical assistance. ntv7 is the official media partner. A total of 64 players are expected to compete in this year's event.
